we hoped it would get bad enough to break glass
that one of our voices
would find the note
to split the window
make a neighbour call the cops
that the dishes would shatter
into too many pieces
to be picked off the floor
we wanted glass in our heels
a trickle of heat
a flicker of colour
in the sun-blank snow
the pines leaned on our doorframe
we waited for them
to pressure in and unfurl
shower our stunned faces
in a rain of needles
knock the teapot off the table
in a blossom of shards
but the trees stood by
evergreen and identical
the same dream of pine repeating
behind yellowing plastic
we painted shut the door

Rainlight
Rain crackled as it hit the ground, scattering sparks in every direction. It was a nostalgic kind of rain, with a warm electric glow and steam that curled upwards as the falling water smashed into the pavement.
It was a beautiful sight, but a dangerous one.
A familiar voice startled him from behind. “You actually came.”
Cathias turned from the window to see the soft glow of Matiah’s eyes blinking from the doorway. Blue eyes, the color of a sparkmoth in flight. “Of course.”
“Come then. We need you to see this.”
“The worms.” Cathias said, keeping pace wit

rememorari
I keep memory in absence
though your story has
a long forgotten ending
I will bury my ghosts
in the afterlife of moments
and let effort be a windowsill
to the crematorium of burdens,
the echo of living the ashes of longing,
a cemetery of remembrance
and in your memory I find
someone to stay

I believe this will be the last one of my spring melodies. Wishing a fine May to everyone
(i have spotted a few new bees in black and white this spring. they're very chic. i feel like they might like to be adressed with "Miss" rather than the quaint french "Madame" i usually use for bees... but of course the alliteration needs them to be mesdames here in any case)
(and i would love to tell you what species they are, but i cannot look up anything bee-related, since somehow everybody on the internet has agreed to use only photos in which they look horrifying and disgusting so trying to google bee species makes me feel sick. i have no idea what is going on there. bees are very cute, fuzzy friends, and if it is not cute and fuzzy you should not be calling it a bee! end of ann being upset about bee pictures here)

Hmmm unfortunately from my searching the only "bees" I find that are black and white are not bees at all, but a type of large wasp called a Baldfaced Hornet. However, this melody is quite lovely even if the particular insect that might've inspired it is not.
